	1937-1951 series plate, or rather a current personalized series plate, which have two letters followed by numerals and are made in the old style.
	1951-1980 series plate.
	1951-1980 motorcycle plate.
	1981-1990 motorcycle plate.
	1981-1987 Interstate truck plate. These were replaced in 1987 by the Federal Interstate plates.
	1981-1989 series plates.
	1988 Australian Bicentennary plate. In contrast to other states, NSW used not only a special design, but even special dimensions for its bicentennary series.
	1989 onwards series plate.

Special edition Euro plate, introduced in the early 2000s. This optionally available plate has the dimensions and basic design of a German plate, and is marketed towards owners of European cars.
